Newark and Sherwood Homes has worked in partnership with Newark and Sherwood District Council in a successful bid for Homes and Communities Agency funding for a proposed £2.2m development of 25 affordable homes at Bilsthorpe.
The £498,750 grant allocated will help to deliver new homes designed to help older people keep living independent lives.
The proposed homes, which are subject to planning permission will be 25 two-bedroomed bungalows built on land alongside Scarborough Road in Bilsthorpe.
Designed to help meet the major long-term housing challenges posed by demographic change and the ageing population, the homes will have windows you can see out of when seated, few or no steps, easy access to kitchen windows for opening and level-access showers which will assist independent living.
The properties will be built to the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, covering insulation and energy efficiency, and will adhere to Lifetime Homes and Building for Life criteria, making them cost-effective and flexible for the residents to live in.
