Chelsea Waterfront, London

The redevelopment of the landmark Lots Road Power Station and site will unify an important but fractured district of London with physical, social and visual permeability. The power station, built in 1904, occupies a wide concave bend of the River Thames. The site is split between two boroughs: Kensington & Chelsea and Hammersmith & Fulham, with the boundary running through the centre line of Chelsea Creek. The power station occupies a highly visible location, which, after a century of industrial use, has remained largely undeveloped.
