Weaver Vale Housing Trust has completed the final phase of its development on New Road in Winsford, marking the successful delivery of a high-quality scheme that brings much-needed affordable homes to the area.
The newly finished phase, Mineral House, comprises 27 one and two-bedroom affordable rent apartments. Its completion brings the overall development to 73 homes in total on the site of the former Greedy Pig pub, just off New Road. The development was supported by grant funding from Homes England.
Mineral House represents an important milestone for the Trust and its partners, supporting ongoing efforts to expand access to modern, energy-efficient homes in the local community. The final stage of the scheme has been delivered by M&Y Maintenance and Construction.
The development has transformed the former brownfield site into a vibrant riverside neighbourhood, offering a mix of houses and apartments designed to meet local housing needs.
Gemma Wood, Director of New Homes and Regeneration at Weaver Vale Housing Trust, said:
“Reaching completion at New Road is an important moment for us. Seeing the development fully delivered is a real credit to everyone involved.
“We are committed to creating high‑quality, affordable homes that meet the needs of our communities, and this development is a great example of that commitment in action.
“The finished homes provide much‑needed housing in a great location, and it’s fantastic to see the site now established as a place people can call home.”
Alastair Mail, Director of Construction at M&Y Maintenance and Construction, said:
“New Road is a great example of what strong partnership working can deliver, with early coordination and our focus on quality and the safety of neighbours. The positive feedback we’ve received about considerate working and site communication shows the standards we aim for in every project.
“It’s been a genuinely collaborative effort from all partners and a scheme we’re proud to hand over. It’s been brilliant to see residents moving into their new homes. We’re so proud to support WVHT’s development programme and look forward to working together on future schemes.”
The completion of New Road marks the culmination of a long-term regeneration project, breathing new life into a previously underused site and providing high‑quality affordable homes for local people.
