As well as being the UK’s leading provider of warranty and insurance for new homes, NHBC is a significant training provider to the industry, delivering 13,500 training days each year.
NHBC’s training team has been successfully supporting the house-building sector for over 25 years, delivering technical training and qualifications such as NVQs to a broad range of professionals. It’s a key part of our core purpose to build confidence in the construction quality of new homes. We deliver around 13,500 delegate training days each year using our portfolio of more than 30 technical courses. We also offer a range of NVQs and a suite of free webinars.
Virtual training – the same courses, just online
In recent times, with the restrictions of Covid-19, we’ve managed to bring our training portfolio online, delivering virtual technical training courses as well as webinars. It’s our usual high-quality course material, delivered by experts, but in the comfort of your own home, office or even site cabin. Coming up in the next few weeks we have:
- Managing timber frame construction – 22 October
- After-sales service and the NHBC warranty – 22 October
- Management of lifting operations – 26 October
- Fire safety for low rise flats and housing – 30 October
NHBC apprenticeships for the next generation of house builders
We are also committed to using our expertise, knowledge and experience to support the next generation of house builders. Attracting and nurturing new talent is key to how we tackle the skills shortage and so we’re excited to announce that we have just launched our very first NHBC apprenticeship in Construction Site Supervision.
We chose Construction Site Supervision as our initial apprenticeship to underscore the vital role that site supervisors and managers play in the delivery of high-quality new homes. We designed it in collaboration with industry-leading employers and the programme will be delivered by our qualified tutors who have decades of construction and coaching experience. We’re certain that it will produce builders of the future who will commit to high standards throughout their careers.
Our 2020 cohort is already underway and we’re now accepting expressions of interest for 2021. We also intend to launch a bricklaying apprenticeship later next year.
