Thomas Alexander Homes has become the only current Yorkshire-based housebuilder to partner with Octopus Energy on its world-first Zero Bills initiative and offer the scheme in the region.
Launched in 2022, Octopus’ Zero Bills scheme allows customers to move into homes that include cutting-edge green technologies – including a heat pump, battery and solar panels – with no home energy bills guaranteed* for at least 5-10 years.
The partnership builds on Thomas Alexander Homes’ existing commitment to gas-free living. All of its communities are already completely gas free, with energy-efficient air source heat pumps and electric vehicle chargers fitted as standard.
By embracing low-carbon heating, the housebuilder has already made the move away from gas ahead of the Government’s Future Homes Standard, which introduces low-carbon heating requirements for new homes in England from March 2027.
The Octopus Energy partnership takes that approach further, bringing Zero Bills living to qualifying homes at its upcoming developments.
Alex Blease, Managing Director at Thomas Alexander Homes, said:
“We’re incredibly proud to be the only Yorkshire-based housebuilder partnering with Octopus Energy to bring Zero Bills homes to the region. For us, creating a quality home has always been about more than how it looks. It’s about the way people live, the comfort of their surroundings and making sure their home is designed with the future in mind.
“With household running costs an increasingly important consideration for buyers, this partnership allows us to offer something genuinely valuable. By combining the craftsmanship and attention to detail that define our homes with innovative energy technology, we’re helping to make everyday family life more affordable.”
Nigel Banks, Zero Bills Director at Octopus Energy, said:
“With Zero Bills, we’re making it possible for people to enjoy comfortable, sustainable living without worrying about energy bills.
“Partnering with Thomas Alexander Homes is an exciting step towards making Zero Bills living the norm across Yorkshire, helping more families save money while enjoying a home that’s better for the planet.”
