The Hill Group appoints new head of planning

Award-winning housebuilder, The Hill Group, has announced the appointment of Alex Woolmore as its new Head of Planning. This significant hire comes at a critical time for the group, as the government looks to housebuilders to ramp up delivery to meet its ambitious goal of delivering 1.5 million new homes.

In her new role within Hill, Alex will provide advice and guidance on planning-related matters to support the promotion of the Group’s strategic land portfolio and the delivery of its existing pipeline. She will also drive the acquisition of new sites helping the business achieve its housing delivery targets andhill group ensuring smooth navigation through planning applications.

Alex brings extensive experience as both a planning expert and a qualified lawyer. She joins Hill from Related Argent where she spent 16 years, most recently as Planning Director, playing a pivotal role in the planning strategies for landmark regeneration projects including King’s Cross and Tottenham Hale. Her experience has shaped her passion for placemaking, with a particular emphasis on delivering vibrant public realms and social infrastructure. She already had a close working knowledge of Hill through her role as a board member at Poplar HARCA, the East London housing association that has partnered with Hill to regenerate the Teviot Estate.

Alex’s appointment coincides with Hill’s forthcoming five-year business plan for 2025-2030, which focuses on growth driven by strategic land. The business is already exploring further significant development opportunities in high-demand areas including Essex, Cambridge and Oxfordshire, aligning with the government’s vision for new towns and sustainable communities to help address the housing crisis.
