New recruits to Taylor Wimpey’s national Graduate Scheme gained hands-on experience during two induction events outlining the construction and sales aspects of the business.
The first group of graduates visited a Taylor Wimpey East Midlands development – The Wheatfields in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire – on Thursday 4th September, while the second visited the Sales Team at the East Midlands head office in Leicester on Wednesday 10th September as well as the Waters Edge development in Hinckley and Grangewood Manor in Leicester Forest East.

Taylor Wimpey’s Graduate Scheme is a two-year rotational programme covering all areas of the homebuilding business, including production management, commercial awareness, technical knowledge, sales and marketing, the importance of customer service, how to assess the purchase of land and managing company finance.
This year Taylor Wimpey has recruited 19 graduates from the top 30 universities to fulfil key positions across all 24 regional businesses within the UK.
During the visit to The Wheatfields, the graduates found out about various aspects of the production role, such as health and safety, quality, commercial and customer service.
After a site safety induction, they went on a walk round the site with a plot checklist, and took part in practical tasks including setting up the short-term programme board in the site office and practising bricklaying.
They also met Site Manager Barry Dennison and Assistant Site Manager Joe Moscetano, who have both developed their careers within Taylor Wimpey.
After A-levels, Barry started with the company as a regional management trainee and was promoted from Assistant Site Manager to Site Manager a year ago. Joe joined Taylor Wimpey as an apprentice bricklayer and has also been in his current position for a year following completion of his apprenticeship.
Meanwhile, the visit to Taylor Wimpey East Midlands regional office saw graduates learning about the sales aspects of the business as well as looking at the new branding at Waters Edge and Grangewood Manor.
