Sovereign, Knightstone to deliver affordable homes at Emersons Green

Two local housing associations are to provide more than 100 affordable homes in the first phase of the new Lyde Green community being built at Emersons Green in South Gloucestershire.

Sovereign Housing Association and Knightstone Housing will deliver the homes for social rent and shared ownership at the new development, which lies eight miles north-east of Bristol. Initially, Knightstone will provide 67 homes, built by Taylor Wimpey and Linden Homes. Sovereign will provide 42 homes constructed by Persimmon and Barratt.

The first residents will begin occupying these homes later this month.

James Gibson, Sovereign’s Regional Development Director said:

“This is a significant new community on the outskirts of Bristol and we are delighted to be involved in it. South Gloucestershire is an important growth area for us; we have developed a very fruitful relationship with the local authority and developed a good track record of investing in new communities in this area.”

Chris Dawson, Development Manager at Knightstone, said:

“We’re excited to be starting work on this important development, bringing much needed new affordable housing to South Gloucestershire.”

There will eventually be 500 affordable homes at Lyde Green, a community that will include primary and secondary schools, leisure facilities, a local centre and employment opportunities.
