RWC Helps Create Dream Homes for Londoners at Olympic Venue

A range of RWC’s products are used across 850 homes in Chobham Manor, a new housing development in East London’s prestigious Olympic Park.

Chobham Manor is the first of five neighbourhoods in The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Elmech Ltd, the mechanical and electrical contractors for the development, chose RWC’s products for the first fix installation of pipes, valves and fittings (PVFs) to create a modern, desirable aesthetic in the bathrooms and kitchens.

The challenge of Chobham Manor is the small footprint of the apartments. To overcome this, JG Speedfit’s easy to install push-to-connect fittings and JG Layflat pipe are used to deliver the plumbing and heating. Meanwhile, Reliance Valves’ 315i series of pressure reducing valves (PRVs) control the water pressure to each unit.

Wojciech Makarewicz, Production Director at Elmech said, “With several apartments located in a small space, we knew it would be a challenge to install the plumbing and heating. What made the JG Speedfit range of pipes and fittings and the Reliance Valves 28mm PRVs so attractive was that they were quick and easy to fit. Alongside this, they are a sustainable option to achieve an overall reduction in the apartments’ water consumption.”

Comprising of 850 homes, Chobham Manor is minutes away from Stratford International, which accesses the Central and Jubilee lines. Over the next 20 years, 6,800 homes will be built in this area, along with nurseries, health centres, multi-purpose community spaces and more.

Built with sustainability in mind, it was important that the plumbing helped reduce water consumption. The Reliance Valves 315i PRVs in the apartments fulfil this as they are designed to cut down the amount of water that pass through a pipe by reducing the water pressure throughout the system, helping the development achieve a higher BREEAM rating.

Mike Riseley, Sales Director at RWC UK said, “With metropolitan living on the rise, homes are becoming smaller, so it’s important that the plumbing can meet this challenge. Because space is at a premium in many new developments, we can provide flexible solutions such as lay flat pipes or push-to-connect fittings and valves, which are ideal for modern properties like those at Chobham Manor.”
