Regional champions recognised for building high quality homes

The first round of Regional Winners for NHBC’s 33rd annual Pride in the Job Awards has been announced for the West of England area.

Four site managers were named as the region’s victors in the Large, Medium, Multi-storey and Single Home categories. Dedicated to rewarding exceptional house-building site management in the UK, Pride in the Job recognises site managers for the unique contribution they make to creating high quality homes.

The Regional Winners for the West of England were:

  • Daren Clark (44) from Cannock in Staffordshire, of Taylor Wimpey North Midlands, who won the Large Builder category for his work on Bluebell Croft in Stoke-on-Trent. Daren was previously a regional winner in 2006.
  • Peter Bayliss (55) from Wolverhampton, of Crest Nicholson Regeneration, who won the Multi-storey Builder category for his work on Park Central in Birmingham. This is Peter’s first ever Pride in the Job Award.
  • Geoff Hale (61) from Walsall – owner of as well as site manager for Firstpost Homes Ltd – who won the Small Builder category for his work on 37 – 41 Old Penkridge Road in Cannock. Geoff is now a six-time regional winner, unbeaten since 2010.
  • Wayne Beaumont (46) from Hereford, of Beaumont Builders Ltd, won the Single Home category for building 5 Hampton Park Road in his home town. Originally a bricklayer by trade, he formed his own company in 2003, focusing on complete new builds and barn conversions.

Over the next two months NHBC will announce Regional Winners in eight further ceremonies across the UK. All Regional champions progress to Pride in the Job’s Supreme Gala final in London in January, hoping to be named as the national champion in their category.

Neil Jefferson, NHBC Business Development Director, congratulated the winners:

“Site managers are pivotal to the success of any project and recognising them through Pride in the Job is one of the most important things we do at NHBC. We’re really proud of what this competition has achieved over the last three decades to drive up standards in new home construction right across the UK.

“Every site manager working on an NHBC registered site is automatically entered, regardless of the size of site or type of house they’re building. The field of competition is huge, so winning is the definitive mark of success. I wish all our Regional Winners the best of luck for the national final in January.”
