More than £9 million will be invested in the local community alongside new homes to be built by Redrow in Stafford.
Two years after the final home at its previous development in the town was sold, the award-winning housebuilder has secured planning consent for 262 new homes on land at Tixall Road.
This latest venture will be known as Church View.
Pauline Turnbull, sales director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), said:
“Located on the eastern edge of Stafford, Church View enjoys a prime location just two miles from the town centre and in an area well served by schools. It’s the ideal setting for our Heritage Collection of traditional looking, family orientated homes.
“And while building new homes is our core business, we’re also committed to supporting the sustainability of the communities in which we operate. We’ll be investing more than £9 million in the area so that as the neighbourhood grows, facilities and services in the area are not only maintained but enhanced for the benefit of both existing and new residents.”
As part of the development Redrow will invest £6.35 million in the construction of 79 affordable homes to meet local housing needs.
An investment of £1.4 million will go towards education and £213,000 will be allocated for improving sports facilities.
More than six acres of land will be public open space, including ponds and swales with mature trees around the site retained, while some £415,000 has been allocated for play facilities, including a skate park.
Redrow will also pay £375,000 towards the provision of a bus service to the town centre and fund promotion of sustainable travel.
Church View will offer 183 private sale homes in a mix of three and four-bedroom designs, with the first properties due to be released for sale this winter.
