Reading site manager receives top building award

A site manager with leading regional builder Persimmon Homes Thames Valley has scooped a top industry award, reaching the national finals of the esteemed awards scheme.

Paul Brown, site manager at Persimmon Homes’ Sovereign Fields development in Bracknell, was awarded the central region Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Warranty Regional Site Manager Award, automatically gaining him a place on the national shortlist.

Paul, 54 from Woodley in Reading, has previously experienced awards success having won an NHBC Pride in the Job Award and Seal of Excellence, and although he was unsuccessful in the national LABC awards, he was delighted with the regional accolade.

He said:

“It is very rewarding to receive recognition from industry peers. My nomination for the LABC regional awards was put forward by the regional inspector, Kevin Harris, and out of 2,500 site managers, it is quite an achievement to have reached the national final.”

The LABC is a not-for-profit organisation which works with all partners in the construction industry to promote, support and enhance compliance with the building regulations and to improve standards in the building industry.

Sites nominated for LABC awards are visited, audited and shortlisted by LABC’s Warranty Technical Directors against a set list of criteria.

Ian Menham, managing director of Persimmon Homes Thames Valley, said:

“We are always very proud of our staff when they achieve industry recognition such as is the case here.

“Paul is a valued and longstanding member of our construction team and this is a reflection of his hard work and commitment to the company, industry and to our customers.”
