The National House Building Council (NHBC) has recognised the high standard of house building at Countryside and L&Q’s landmark development Beaulieu in Chelmsford, with a Pride in the Job Quality Award for Senior Project Manager, Ian Ritchie. Heralded as one of the industry’s most prestigious awards, Pride in the Job recognises the best site managers who achieve the highest standards of house building. The awards have been running for more than three decades.
A Pride in the Job award is the highest industry accolade a site manager can receive, and represents success for the whole Beaulieu team in achieving outstanding quality at every stage of the build of this ambitious development. Recognising the meticulous and consistent attention to detail by Ian Ritchie and his team, Beaulieu scored highly for the quality of workmanship across the initial phase of new homes, and Ian also demonstrated excellent leadership, technical expertise, robust health and safety processes, as well as an unmistakable ‘wow factor’.
Ian Ritchie will now be put forward for the NHBC Pride in the Job Seal of Excellence Awards, which will be revealed in the Autumn. Envisaged as a sustainable modern urban extension for Chelmsford, Beaulieu, once the site of King Henry VIII’s Country Park, will comprise a mix of up to 3,600 traditional and contemporary new homes to help meet the needs of the City’s growing population, set around the majestic backdrop of New Hall and its estate parkland. The eagerly-anticipated first phase of new homes, Beaulieu Heath, which was recently visited by the local Mayor, will go on general sale in early July, offering a collection of 49 homes designed in a colonial style.
Speaking about the Award, Ian Ritchie, commented:
“I am delighted to receive a Pride in the Job Quality Award, which I accept on behalf of the whole team at Beaulieu. It is fantastic to get recognition from the NHBC for the outstanding skill and care with which the prestigious Beaulieu Heath phase has been designed and constructed.”
“There is a significant need for new housing in Chelmsford and across Essex, and Beaulieu demonstrates that a housing development on this large scale can be conceived and built to the highest standards, providing quality new homes for the local community.”
“Countryside is proud of its reputation for creating extraordinary new neighbourhoods and communities that continue to grow and thrive for years to come – it is this dedication to quality house building and place making that sets us apart.”
