UK housebuilder Redrow has submitted plans for a new £43million housing development in Congleton.
The proposed development is for 202 homes across 14 acres on land off Macclesfield Road, approximately 1.6km from the centre of Congleton. It includes a selection of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes, including the provision of affordable housing.
Plans also include the creation of a large area of public open space on the land, along with an ecological area to support local wildlife.
John Grime, managing director of Redrow Homes (NW), explains why the company chose this location:
“This is an excellent site with the potential to add significant value to the local area,” he said. “The development will not only support the market need for high quality affordable and family homes in Congleton, both now and in the future, but will also provide homes of distinction and character to enhance the locality.
“Congleton is a bustling town with strong transport links, good local schools, shops and amenities. All this, combined with the beauty of the Cheshire Peak District on the doorstep, make it the ideal family base. It’s an area already boasting a strong urban and rural architectural mix and, by building sensitively to the existing landscape, our development will offer a village feel while delivering real benefits for the community.”
A decision on the planning application is expected later in the year.
