Paving a path for progress: Housebuilder donates £1500 to Ramsgate pupils

Barratt Kent, the housebuilder behind the Ramsgate development Spitfire Green, has donated £1,500 to Foreland Fields Charity to enable for the creation of accessible pathways at Foreland Fields School. The donation will ensure that pupils with profound, severe and complex needs can navigate the school grounds safely and independently.

Foreland Fields Charity, the charitable arm of Foreland Fields School, was set up in June 2018 to provide access to suitable equipment, resources, and activities beyond the statutory requirement of the local education authority, to nourish individual needs whilst promoting resilience.

Building a new network of safe and accessible paths around the grounds of Foreland Fields School will undoubtably be a hugely beneficial resource for the students and staff alike. Many of the students who attend Foreland Fields School have mobility needs, which is why the donation from Barratt Kent is a crucial requirement for helping them navigate the school grounds.

Diarmuid Molloy, Director of Philanthropy at Foreland Fields Charity, commented: “The project simply couldn’t have happened without the support of Barratt Kent. Its donation has allowed the pathways project to now be fully completed meaning we can now open its doors to all students with physical disabilities. Thank you very much Barratt Kent and we look forward to seeing how the project progresses.”

Natalie Perry, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt Kent added, “The team and I are proud to have helped Foreland Fields Charity create crucial new accessible pathways across its site – we hope that current and future pupils will feel capable of taking the next steps on their journey in safe, accessible conditions. All pupils should be able to freely navigate their way around their school safely. This is both practically important and developmentally important because access imbues children with a sense of independence and a healthy self-esteem. We look forward to seeing the project progress and the benefits it will bring to many.”
