New monocouche render keeps housebuilders on target for carbon reduction

A lower carbon monocouche render has been launched to help housebuilders actively reduce  embodied carbon in their projects.

Housebuilders are facing growing pressure to demonstrate progress against sustainability  targets and account for Scope 3 emissions across their supply chains. As construction  materials contribute to a large proportion of a building’s embodied carbon, choosing lower  carbon products at specification stage can help reduce upfront emissions across new  developments.

Saint-Gobain Weber has relaunched weberpral E, a high-performance monocouche render  with 22% lower carbon emissions from fossil fuels*. It has been reformulated with next  generation cement replacement technology that minimises reliance on traditional cement. This  is achieved by using recycled material to substantially reduce CO2 emissions.

Throughout the product’s lifecycle, there are also significant reductions when compared to  weberpral M: energy consumption by 25%, non-renewable energy consumption by 19%, and  water usage by 28%.

Weberpral E is supported by an independently verified Environmental Product Declaration  (EPD), providing housebuilders with reliable performance data to inform embodied carbon  assessments and Scope 3 emissions reporting.

Caroline Rowley, Business Development Director at Saint-Gobain Exterior Solutions, said: “As the Future Homes Standard drives improvements in the energy efficiency of new homes  and reductions in operational carbon emissions, it is also causing the industry to think about  the impact of embodied carbon. Choosing lower carbon materials gives housebuilders the  opportunity to go one step further in their sustainability journey by reducing embodied carbon  too.

“We have reformulated weberpral E with sustainability in mind. It has all of the well-known and  trusted product benefits of Weber’s monocouche render with the additional sustainability  credentials that will help housebuilders to hit their targets, while enhancing product  performance.”

Manufactured in the UK and widely available through our Merchant and Distribution partners  across the UK and Ireland, weberpral E is supported by a dedicated Housebuilder team offering design, technical and application on-site support, compliance management, academy  training, CPD’s and best practice presentations to strengthen the housebuilder brand.

Now available in 24 colours, the through-colour monocouche render is a low maintenance  finish. Designed to minimise applicator time on site, weberpral E is a one-coat render that  allows same-day scrape. This faster application means shorter programme periods, helping to
