A new manufacturing facility for Mapei admixtures
Mapei, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of chemical products for the building industry, has expanded and strengthened its presence in the UK, acquiring a second site in the North West.
The new 3200 m2 facility – in Speke, near Liverpool – will provide a UK manufacturing facility for Mapei admixtures, along with a warehousing facility, research and development laboratory and offices. The site officially opens early this year.
Products manufactured at the new site will include admixtures from Mapei’s Dynamon and Idrocrete ranges, all of which are currently imported into the UK, resulting in a reduced carbon footprint, faster output and substantially improved order delivery times.
“We’re absolutely delighted to announce the opening of the new facility at Speke. Manufacturing these products in the UK – as well as others from the Mapei UK admixtures portfolio – with the support of our team, will enable our customers-to optimise their concrete production, achieving superior strength, workability, enhanced finishing at low water-to-cement ratios and providing a concrete with a lower carbon footprint,” commented Julian Pritchard, Mapei UK Commercial Director Building Products.
“This is a further investment by the Mapei Group into the UK market, which allows us to continue to expand our footprint and develop the extensive Mapei product range further into the UK construction market,” added Phil Breakspear, Mapei UK Managing Director.
Mapei’s wide range of admixtures for concrete includes precast solutions, fibre reinforcement, air-entraining agents, water reducers, retarders, accelerators, superplasticizers, corrosion inhibitors, shrinkage reducers, viscosity-modifying agents and masonry products.
