Following changes to UK Building Regulations on 15th June 2022, the requirements for all windows and external doors changed, in order to decrease the amount of carbon emissions generated by new homes by at least 31%. Windows and doors in new builds are now subject to a notional target of 1.2W/m²K (previously 1.6W/m²K) and a limiting standard of 1.4W/m²K (previously 2.0W/m²K).
When it comes to timber, there has been an exception, whereby a limiting standard U-value of 1.6W/m²K is valid up until 14th June 2023.
Although Bereco is ahead of the game with double-glazed U-values of 1.2W/m²K across the board, with this date fast approaching, it is likely that many products currently being sold by other window and door suppliers will not make the grade. Our standard double glazed windows are even more efficient than the stipulated new Part L limiting requirement, and our triple glazed products reach a U-value of just 0.8W/m²K.
