Jones Homes Southern is preparing to start work on a development of 70 homes in Lenham.
The developer, based in Swanley, has purchased 7.4 acres of land off Ham Lane in the village and secured full planning consent to build the homes.
Jones Homes will make contributions of around £290,000 to support local infrastructure, including education and healthcare, as part of the planning approval.
The company will give over £140,000 to Kent County Council for primary school places; nearly £60,000 towards open spaces; over £55,000 to local healthcare; £20,000 towards traffic improvements and a £10,000 contribution to local libraries.
Sara Stanhope, Sales Director for Jones Homes Southern, said:
“This will be a lovely development in a beautiful setting, which has excellent transport links locally and from Ashford and Maidstone into London.
“We will be building a range of three and four-bedroom homes, so the development will cater for a variety of people’s needs.”
The development will feature a landscaped area to the north-west of the site, hedges to the east and south will be preserved and there will be nest boxes for swifts to the north of the development, where the houses will look out onto the Kent Downs.
Sara Stanhope said:
“Our role extends beyond building homes – we are focused on joining communities, so we are pleased to be creating the homes that the local market needs, while giving major contributions to local education, health and open spaces.
“We have a strong heritage in Lenham and look forward to returning to the village.”
Jones Homes previously built 19 houses and apartments at Westwood Grange in Lenham on land adjoining the new development.
