Hugo Boss – new feature staircase for Regent Street

Hugo Boss set out to dazzle the streets of London with their new look at their flagship store on Regent Street.

Spreading over two floors, the store required a feature helical staircase and surrounding balustrade, to not only connect their fashion spaces together, but also to reflect their prestigious brand.

Having already completed similar, but not identical staircases for the Nottingham and Bicester Hugo Boss stores, Canal Architectural were yet again commissioned to fabricate and install another contemporary staircase.

Starting at their manufacturing site in Nottingham, Canal began fabricating the large double stringer stair out of mild steel. Canal shaped and formed the steel to create the elegant curves of the stair profile, while keeping to the latest British standards.

Once completed, the stair was broken down into manageable sections, transported to site and hoisted into place. The Canal skilled welders and installation team set to work positioning and securing the staircase.

Once installed, the staircase was site sprayed in Hugo Boss black and the stone for the treads were installed. Each toughened glass balustrade panel was fitted onto the staircase followed by the handrail, which was also finished in Hugo Boss black.

To finish, the first floor had toughened and laminated glass balustrade panels installed, which meant no handrail was necessary. The frameless balustrade created uninterrupted views across the store, taking no attention away from the Hugo Boss product displays.

Canal have previously worked with a number of commercial properties including; Republic, Tumi, Bonhams, Cassina, The Shard, hotels and other offices to name a few. Canal also works heavily in the domestic sector installing feature staircases throughout the UK and abroad.
