CALA Homes (West) has donated to a small business in Glasgow which is raising money to purchase vital PPE for key workers in the NHS.
The homebuilder has donated £500 to Jordanhill-based cupcake company, Cake at Number 8, which is passing on all profit to Kelvinside Academy to allow it to produce face shields for hospitals across Scotland, using the school’s readily available equipment.
The donation from CALA Homes (West) has seen 180 face shields made by Kelvinside Academy – as well as dozens of sweet treats – sent to the ICU and COVID-19 wards at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
Lindsay Nairn, of Cake at Number 8, said: “I was thrilled when CALA got in touch to put forward a donation. I’m just trying to do my bit to help the team at Kelvinside Academy to produce much-needed visors for our NHS staff by donating profits from all orders, and such a generous offer of funding from a business like CALA has given us a real boost.
“Kelvinside Academy were delighted to receive the donation, which came at just the right time as funds were running a little low.”
