Housebuilder supports Lancashire children’s causes

A local children’s hospice, and a charity supporting disadvantaged children are the latest good causes to receive a helping hand from the country’s largest house builder.

Derian House and Rock FM’s Cash for Kids have each been given £1,000 as part of Persimmon Homes Lancashire’s Community Champions scheme.

The year-long initiative aims to support local groups and charities with a pot of £24,000 of match-funding available.

Derian House is a Lancashire-based hospice that cares for hundreds of children and supports up to 500 families, with a range of services including short breaks, hospice at home and end of life and bereavement support.

Community fundraiser, John Rullo said:

“For these families, Derian House is the means by which they deal with the highs and lows of their children’s illnesses.”

“We are renowned throughout the region for being at the forefront of children’s care, and we can’t thank Persimmon enough for this very generous donation which will enable us to continue to offer our high quality care.”

Cash for Kids is the official charity of Rock FM and provides a helping hand to disabled or disadvantaged children cross Lancashire.

Each year, the charity aims to raise thousand of pounds to hand out in grants to children’s charities, individuals and good causes.

Charity manager Nikki Thompson said:

“We are currently working on various appeals, including raising money towards a neonatal ventilator, a sensory room and a special holiday.

“We are very grateful to Persimmon Homes Lancashire, as their grant will help to make the dreams of some of our children a reality.”

Persimmon Lancashire Sales Director, Diane Finch said:

“We are delighted to be making a real difference to the lives of children in our area.

“Derian House and Cash for Kids both work incredibly hard to help out ill, disabled or disadvantaged children and we really hope our funding foes a long way to support the children and their families.”
