Hill: Britain needs to keep building despite referendum outcome

Greg Hill, Strategy and Change Management Director at housebuilder Hill commented on today’s quarterly housebuilding figures from the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG):

“Today’s figures show a huge 23 per cent increase in housebuilding starts on Q4 2015, and an impressive 22 per cent increase in housebuilding completions during the same period – this is great news for anybody looking to buy a house in the year ahead.”

“Help to Buy is helping to get Britain building; it’s encouraging housebuilders to invest in new sites and bring forward developments. We can expect to see Help to Buy London stimulate further investment in the capital in 2016, particularly in outer London.”

Hill insisted the UK needed to continue to build no matter the outcome of the referendum on Britain’s EU memebership in June.

“With uncertainty around Brexit and the value of the pound making headlines, it is also important to remember that Britain continues to need many thousands of new homes and this will be the case for years to come, whatever the result in June.”
