UK Building Compliance launches the SAP Pass Risk Finder and Part O Overheating Risk Finder, giving instant traffic-light verdicts in a minute
Hinckley, Leicestershire: UK Building Compliance has launched two free online tools that help housebuilders and developers gauge their risk of failing Part L and Part O compliance at design stage, long before a failure can hold up handover.
The SAP Pass Risk Finder and the Part O Overheating Risk Finder each ask a handful of questions about a scheme and return an instant traffic-light verdict. Neither requires registration to see the initial headline result.
Discovering a compliance failure at final inspection is one of the most expensive problems a residential scheme can face. A single failed plot can delay local authority completion certificates, stall legal handovers and lead to contractor downtime while remedial work is designed and carried out.
The two tools are designed to flag those risks early:
- SAP Pass Risk Finder: Four questions that benchmark common Part L design failures in under 60 seconds.
- Part O Overheating Risk Finder: Five questions that identify key risk factors and show whether a scheme is likely to be able to follow the Simplified Method or will need a dynamic thermal simulation under CIBSE TM59.
“Compliance problems are far cheaper to solve on paper than on site,” said Tom Holland, Technical Director at UK Building Compliance. “A change to glazing, shading or an opening at design stage can be the difference between a straightforward sign-off and a costly delay at completion. We built these tools to give architects and developers a quick, honest indication of where they stand, and we’ve made them free because early awareness benefits the whole sector.”
