The first site managers have been named as Regional Winners in this year’s NHBC Pride in the Job Awards, with each now staking a claim to become one of the best house-builders in the UK.
Regional winners will be named throughout the autumn until the early November, with the exceptional site managers shortlisted for the Pride in the Job Supreme Gala final in January, where the national champions will be announced.
Beginning with the West of England, the first regional winners announced were:
- Geoff Hale of Firstpost Homes Ltd, winning both the Single Home and Small Builder categories for Sunningdale House in Brocton and his site at Borrowcop Lane in Lichfield. A keen West Bromwich Albion FC supporter, the owner and site manager for Firstpost Homes Ltd has worked in house-building for 27 years.
- Andy Shaw of Taylor Wimpey Midlands, winning the Multi-storey Builder category for Diglis Water in Worcester. With an eye for detail and a drive to please his customers, he began his career as a joiner in 1980, moving into management in 2000.
- Simon Jones of Barratt and David Wilson Homes Mercia, winning the Large Builder category for Woodthorne in Wolverhampton. With a trade background, Simon worked his way through various different roles on the way to becoming a site manager, and loves the variety each day brings and getting the best out of the trades on site.
Pride in the Job, widely regarded to be the Oscars of the house-building industry, is now in its 34th year. Dedicated to rewarding exceptional house-building site management in the UK, it recognises site managers for the unique contribution they make to creating high quality homes.
Regional Winners are selected from around 15,000 site managers across the country, putting them in the top half a percent of their profession.
NHBC Chief Executive, Mike Quinton, commented:
“The NHBC Pride in the Job Awards are the most sought after accolades in the industry, recognising site managers that build high quality homes. Site managers play a critical role in delivering any project, being responsible for overseeing everything that happens on site from start to finish. Our Regional Winners build homes of a very high standard. Anyone buying a home built by one of our winners’ can do so with confidence in its workmanship and quality.”
