End of an era as production of AG Heritage Facing Brick comes to an end at Dungannon – but demand for Woodward hits record levels

AG Paving and Building Products has marked the end of an era with production of one of its best known facing brick products coming to an end at its manufacturing plant in Dungannon, County Tyrone.

Once a leader in its field, AG’s Heritage Facing Brick took the market by storm some 30 years ago with its wonderfully hand-crafted reclaimed and weathered aesthetic and attractive glazed appearance through the use of natural materials and a bespoke curing process.

Today AG’s CEO Stephen Acheson paid tribute to the skilled team responsible for producing more than 150million Heritage Bricks over the past three decades.

“This is the end of a very successful era where production of AG’s Heritage facing brick has come to a close. We pride ourselves on creating products which are better, faster and safer for our customers, and our Heritage Brick was no exception. Heritage took concrete facing brick to a whole new level when it was first launched in 1990. The market had never seen a concrete facing brick with such a beautiful finish and range of deep colours.

“The product can be seen in housing developments and prestigious builds right across Ireland and the UK and looks as good today as it did when built.

“In keeping with AG’s ethos of innovation and creating products which are better, fast and safer, AG has developed a new facing brick called Woodward which brings a number of new benefits to customers including a frogged top face which makes the bricks even lighter and easier to build.

“Woodward has strong environmental credentials being manufactured on the latest equipment using local sourced aggregates and also boasts a 60 year guarantee. The bricks have excellent dimensional accuracy, coupled with the same high quality colour integrity as Heritage. The new Woodward production plant in AG’s Fivemiletown site has four times the capacity of the former Heritage plant which allows the company to be more efficient, more sustainable and service ever increasing customer demands with even shorter lead times.

“Whilst truly the end of an era we are excited that Woodward has quickly established itself as a favourite with architects and housebuilders, with record sales levels right across the UK and Ireland.”
