Cestria named as top 100 apprenticeship employer

Chester-le-Street housing provider, Cestria Community Housing part of the Isos Group, is one of seven companies from the North East which has been named in the prestigious Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list.

The Association’s successful mentoring scheme, which offers young apprentices working within the business vital professional and personal development through mentoring by existing members of staff, was highly commended out of 1,400 entrants to receive an award.

The Awards, now in their eleventh year are run by the National Apprenticeship Service and recognise excellence in two areas: businesses that grow their own talent with apprentices and apprentices who have made a significant contribution to their workplaces.

An awards ceremony was held at The Skills Show in Birmingham last week where Cestria was unveiled as one of the top apprentice employers in the country. The Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list, which is compiled annually by the National Apprenticeship Service in partnership with City & Guilds, recognises excellence in businesses and employ apprentices.

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg congratulated Cestria Community Housing on being named a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer.

He said:

“This year’s Top 100 Apprenticeship employers have demonstrated the huge impact on the young people they invest in and the many benefits for their organisations.”

“Apprentices help employers develop a skilled and qualified workforce to build a stronger economy, whilst creating a fairer society where young people can get on and go far in some
of Britain’s best companies.”

“I would encourage more businesses across England to follow these shining examples and find out how apprenticeships can help them build a skilled, motivated and highly qualified
workforce.”

Martin Warhurst, Managing Director of Cestria Community Housing, said:

“This is wonderful news. To be recognised nationally as an employer committed to flying the flag for apprenticeships and having dedicated mentors full of pride for our apprentices and their ongoing development is truly wonderful.”
