Building Safety into Law – Housebuilder & Developer’s latest white paper

Housebuilder & Developer recently researched the industry’s opinions on the Building Safety Bill. From their findings, they have developed a detailed white paper which is now live and available to download from the link below.

Five years after the Grenfell Tower tragedy, the Government introduced the Building Safety Bill, to attempt to address many of the construction industry issues which have been blamed for the devastating fire. Coming in the wake of the Hackitt review, and receiving Royal Assent in April 2022, the Building Safety Act covers a raft of changes for housebuilders and developers. These include a new system of accountability for safety in projects, a construction products regulator, and a refreshed regulatory framework. It is claimed to be the biggest change in building safety for over 40 years.

While the Bill was progressing through Parliament, Housebuilder & Developer conducted a survey of its audience on their knowledge of, and opinions of, the changes it brings. The results contain a variety of sometimes concerning findings, such as the lack of information currently received from the Government on the Bill/Act. The Industry Viewfinder white paper report is a unique insight into housebuilders’ readiness to tackle the new safety regime, and safeguard future developments.
