The Berkeley Group has announced plans to increase its modular housebuilding by constructing a purpose-built factory in Kent.
The developer acquired the site in Gravesham from the HCA and has submitted a planning application for a 160,000 ft² facility.
Berkeley has said it has “assembled a team of specialists” to design the space alongside its construction teams, with the first components currently undergoing testing.
The news was included within the group’s interim results announcement which also revealed that in the six months to 31 October Berkeley delivered 2,117 homes. The group said it had made a pre-tax profit of £533.3m – up 35.8 per cent from £392.7m.
