Bellway has been named one of the three most admired housebuilders in Britain in an annual business survey run by the London Stock Exchange.
The FTSE 250 Index listed housebuilder received the bronze award in the Home Construction category of Britain’s Most Admired Companies 2025.
Now in its 36th year, the study is the UK’s longest-running peer-and analyst-review measure of corporate reputation and is widely regarded as a leading indicator of trust, investment confidence and long-term value potential. Run in partnership with Echo Research, it measures the reputation of over 250 of Britain’s largest companies across 28 industry sectors.
Based in Newcastle upon Tyne, Bellway employs almost 3,000 staff across 21 divisions in England, Scotland and Wales.
Paul Lawler, Bellway’s Group Head of Communications, accepted the award on behalf of the company at an awards ceremony at the London Stock Exchange.
He said: “This highly respected study considers all aspects of a business’s activity which contribute to its reputation, management and financial results and therefore provides a reliable measure of a company’s performance in the eyes of its stakeholders.
“Bellway has a reputation for delivering strong financial performance backed by corporate values which ensure the company prioritises making a positive impact on people and the planet. It is pleasing to see that our commitment to those priorities has been recognised by our peers in the housebuilding sector and the wider business community.
“Our Better with Bellway sustainability strategy is an over-arching vision which places communities and the environment at the forefront of our operation, from delivering the low-carbon homes of the future to putting customers at the heart of everything we do.”
Dame Julia Hoggett, CEO, London Stock Exchange, said:
“Britain’s Most Admired Companies offers a uniquely robust window into what the UK’s business and investment community values most and what builds confidence in long-term performance.
“In 2025, the results highlight the importance of strategic clarity, strong management and the ability to deliver in a fast-changing environment. These insights are valuable not only for boards and investors, but for anyone focused on creating the conditions for sustainable growth in UK plc.”
Sandra Macleod, Group CEO at Echo Research, said: “This year’s study shows that in an era of volatility and rapid technological change, reputation is increasingly anchored in delivery: strategic clarity, high-quality management, financial resilience and strong products and services. But the standout message for boards is what comes next.
“The ‘circle of opportunity’ tells us that innovation capability and talent strength are where reputation and long-term value will be won. For leaders, this is both a warning and an invitation: invest now in the capabilities that will compound into future advantage.”
