Bringing over 500 new homes to the much coveted Nine Elms regeneration scheme, The Residence from Bellway Homes Thames Gateway is the latest exciting development to get in on the act on the South Bank.
The five star developer is well under way with the demolition of the former Christie’s Auctioneers storage facilities on Ponton Road, SW8. With completions due from 2017, The Residence will offer a collection of one, two, three and four bedroom apartments and penthouses situated within two ten storey and one 19 storey buildings.
Of the 510 new homes at The Residence, 76 apartments will be affordable. The exciting new development will also include 2,475m² of commercial space, with the aim of bringing new retail and lifestyle opportunities to the area.
Ian Gorst, Managing Director of Bellway Homes’ Thames Gateway Division, said:
“The Nine Elms on the South Bank regeneration scheme is one of the largest of its kind in the UK, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it. The whole area, from Battersea Power Station right up to Vauxhall, is undergoing extensive works to create a fantastic new hub in the middle of the capital.
“With The Residence offering over 500 new homes and lots of commercial space, we are hoping to not only provide high specification new homes but also to bring new commercial opportunities for local businesses to stay local. It is important to us that local people benefit from the regeneration project in every way possible.”
Designed by Maccreanor Lavington Architects in conjunction with GRID, The Residence is a modern and sustainable development with architectural character that reflects the broad history of the area. The new buildings will also include a variety of measures to help energy efficiency, designed to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, including improved insulation, large windows for solar gain as well as support for community recycling.
GRID Inside is also working on the interior architecture, designed to be in tune with the exterior of the buildings. The apartments will be created with the utmost care and attention to every detail, with a top of the range specification down to the last plug. Undercroft car and cycle parking will be available to residents, 10% of which will be dedicated to disabled drivers, and electric car charging points will be provided.
