More than 400 people including contractors, architects, designers and local authority building control surveyors gathered last Friday at The Hilton Hotel in Newcastle Gateshead for the Northern region LABC Building Excellence Awards.
Award finalists from Cumbria, Durham, Northumberland, Tees Valley and Tyne and Wear attended the 11 July event, during which 14 winning projects that will represent the region in the national awards later in the year were announced. Six highly commended projects were also recognised.
Small-scale regional builders, as well as well-known national developers including Bellway Homes and Persimmon Homes received their certificates from representatives of award sponsors Home & Build, Roger Bullivant, Travis Perkins, Web Dynamics, LABC Acoustics and LABC Warranty.
Congratulating the winners, Northern regional chair Dawn McQuillan from Sunderland City Council Building Control said:
“The LABC Building Excellence Awards celebrate the achievement of high standards in technical design and construction.
“Our building control teams appreciate the special working relationships we have built with our customers. These are valued relationships and the awards enable us to celebrate the very best construction projects that are the outcome of this collaboration.”
All the winning regional projects from England and Wales automatically qualify for the LABC Building Excellence Awards Grand Finals, which will be staged in London on Tuesday 11 November 2014.
More than £2,700 was raised for LABC charity of the year Help for Heroes during the event.
