Regional housebuilder Bargate has secured Reserved Matters planning approval from Wiltshire Council for its 25-home residential scheme in the sought-after village of Whiteparish.
Located on land south of A27 Romsey Road, the 1.7-hectare (4.2-acre) site received outline planning permission in 2024, with Reserved Matters submitted in November 2025. The approved scheme will deliver a mix of one- to five-bedroom open-market homes, First Homes and affordable properties to be delivered in partnership with VIVID, Hampshire’s largest and not-for-profit provider of affordable homes.

The development has been designed to reflect the character of the village, including traditional red-brick elevations, bay windows, and scalloped tile hanging. The layout has been carefully considered to minimise the visual prominence of vehicles, with parking provided on-plot, within garages and in small, discreet groupings.
In line with Bargate’s environmental commitments, all homes will be energy efficient and include green technologies as standard, such as solar PV panels, air-source heat pumps, high levels of insulation, and EV charging points.
A significant proportion of the site will be dedicated to green infrastructure. Nearly two acres of public parkland will be created, incorporating a play area, wildflower planting and sustainable drainage features (SuDS) to enhance biodiversity and manage surface water. In addition, an extensive footpath network takes walkers northwards to West Dean, or southwards to the forest trails and attractions of the New Forest.
Located between Salisbury and Romsey, Whiteparish was crowned the ‘Best Kept Village in Wiltshire’ in 2022, and benefits from a range of local amenities, including a village store, two pubs, a 12th-century church, primary school, GP surgery and recreation ground.
The site is well connected, with a bus stop directly opposite providing services to nearby villages, while rail links from Dean, Salisbury and Romsey offer convenient connections to Southampton, London and Bristol. By road, the A27, A36 and M27 provide efficient access across the region and beyond.
With planning consent now secured, Bargate will progress pre-construction preparations, with works on site expected to commence in 2027.
