Federation of Master Builders (FMB) member Victoria Collins, who is Operations Director at Sussex-based building firm KingsRock Construction has won the prestigious Women in Construction Award at the Southeast Construction Expo & Awards .
The event held last night (30 April 2026) at Brighton’s Amex Stadium, recognises Victoria’s commitment to championing wellbeing, strong team culture, and creating opportunities for the next generation entering the industry.
KingsRock apprentice Will Harwood was also named as a finalist for Apprentice of the Year, while the company itself was shortlisted in the Best Contractor category – a triple recognition that reflects the firm’s people-first approach to building.
Victoria has been a driving force behind KingsRock’s focus on developing talent and fostering a positive workplace culture, helping to address the construction industry’s ongoing skills shortage through mentorship and apprenticeship programmes.
Award-winner and FMB member Victoria Collins, Operations Director of KingsRock Construction said:
“I’m incredibly honoured to receive the Women in Construction award for the south east especially in an industry I care so deeply about. I didn’t expect to win, which makes it even more meaningful. For me, this has never just been about being a woman in construction. It’s about creating an industry where everyone feels they belong regardless of whether you’re a man or a woman, there is a place for you in construction.
“I’m passionate about building environments where people feel supported, valued, and proud of what they do whether that’s through wellbeing on site, creating a strong team culture at KingsRock, or going into schools and colleges to show young people the opportunities this industry offers. Construction has given me so much over the years and I’m committed to helping shape a future where the next generation can step into it with confidence.”
Brian Berry, Chief Executive of the Federation of Master Builders, added:
“Victoria’s success is a powerful example of the talent, leadership and commitment driving the construction sector forward. At a time when the industry is working hard to attract new entrants and improve diversity, role models like Victoria are vital. The FMB is proud to support women in construction and to champion an industry that is inclusive, professional and full of opportunity for people from all backgrounds.”
Iain Kirtley, FMB Regional Director for the South, concluded:
“What a fantastic achievement for Victoria, and very worthy recognition for all she does to support SME builders and other women in construction across the region. Through her work with KingsRock Construction and as a valued member of our Southern Counties board, Victoria consistently demonstrates the values, standards and ethics that set FMB members apart. On behalf of all our members, especially those in the region, I’d like to congratulate Victoria and her team, she is making a huge difference for the industry.”
The recognition comes at a time when the construction industry continues to face significant skills challenges, with FMB research consistently highlighting the need for more young people, women, and diverse talent to enter the sector.
