Wain Homes Takes Customers on Aspirational Journey with New House Range

Privately owned housebuilder Wain Homes has launched a new range of house types designed to support every stage of a buyer’s journey and meet the requirements of the forthcoming Future Homes Standard.

Called Ascend, the collection features 22 two, three, four and five-bed homes, each named to reflect an aspirational progression up a valley, symbolising the journey towards a customer’s dream home.

Housetype names are inspired by natural topography: two-bedroom homes such as Beckfold, Glenside and Lakeshore are rooted in the valley floor; three- and four-bedroom homes, including Meadowvale, Oakrise and Highstone, reflect the valley sides; while five-bedroom homes such as Peakridge, Willowcrest, and in a nod to the company’s heritage, the Standish, sit proudly at the valley’s summit.

The Ascend collection delivers new-build homes with significantly lower carbon emissions than those built to previous regulations. Every home meets the Nationally Described Space Standard (NDSS) and M4(2) of the Building Regulations, providing generous living space and improved accessibility, while futureproofing them ahead of the implementation of the Future Homes Standard. Each property also includes an electric vehicle charging point and high-efficiency sanitaryware that exceeds minimum water saving requirements.

Designed in-house under the guidance of Wain Group Design Project Manager Andrew Mitchell, the range follows a ‘fabric first’ approach. Improved construction methods work alongside bolt-on energy-saving technologies, while increased cavity widths and insulation levels will significantly enhance each home’s EPC rating.

Branded as all-inclusive, Wain Homes has also upgraded its standard specifications for the Ascend collection, including a choice of kitchens in a range of colours and styles, integrated appliances, carpets and flooring throughout, oak veneered internal doors, fitted wardrobes to primary bedrooms, turf to front and rear gardens and more, all included in the selling price.

Jim Wood, Wain Group Managing Director, said:

“Our Ascend collection has been led by customer feedback from across all our regions. We’ve listened carefully to what buyers want from a new home and worked closely with our regional teams to design a house type range that’s flexible enough to meet local planning needs, but consistent in delivering quality, space and energy efficiency across the board.

“The new range features increased room sizes and overall footprint, already compliant with NDSS and M4(2). It enables our regions to respond more effectively to local conditions while futureproofing for sustainability and exemplifies the flexible approach of an independent housebuilder. The process has been fully inclusive, and the opportunity for our whole team to shape the range reflects our ‘One Wain’ values.”

The Ascend range will offer homes from 771sq.ft for the two-bed Beckfold to 1,907sq.ft for the five-bed Standish. The first homes are set to launch in the company’s North West heartland, where Wain Homes was founded in 1972, before being rolled out across its Severn Valley and South West regions.

Jim added:

“Ascend is as profound as it is simple. Through this new collection, we’re reaffirming our commitment to protecting the environment and the landscapes we build in, while reflecting our customers’ aspirations and ambitions.

“We believe that by inspiring confidence in the quality and design of our homes, customers who begin their journey with us will choose to stay with Wain Homes as they move through life’s key moments and milestones. We want to be a lifelong partner, building homes that are both practical and flexible.

“Our aim is to create homes that offer comfort and a sense of luxury, while complementing their surroundings. Through Ascend, we’re creating places that feel welcoming and well considered, support the people who live in them, and contribute positively to the planet.”
