A Northeast housebuilder is strengthening its team with the appointment of a new Quantity Surveyor.
Hannah Maurice, 33, from Whitley Bay, joins Amethyst Homes – which has increased its workforce from just three to 28 in the past decade. She will be responsible for estimating costs, calculating the materials needed and mapping out project timelines.
Hannah has significant experience in the industry, beginning her career as a graduate with a national housebuilder where she worked for several years, before joining a regional developer in the Midlands. She has a Business and Applied Finance Degree and HNC in Construction.
“I was interested in moving from a large PLC developer to a smaller, regional house builder, – like Amethyst – because I find the product and range of sites far more interesting.” Said Hannah. “In addition, I feel that as part of a smaller team, you can offer a more personalised customer service to clients and homebuyers.
“Amethyst Homes has a great reputation for building a quality product and has an experienced, close-knit team which is incredibly supportive. I look forward to helping the company continue to deliver much needed housing across the region.”
Richard Bass, Managing Director at Amethyst Homes, said: “It is great to have Hannah onboard, she is a welcome addition to our growing team.
“She has a good grounding in the industry and is acutely aware of the current challenges in the market, not least the elongated planning process and supply chain constraints. I am confident that Hannah will be able to work closely with our supply chain and partnering organisations to overcome these challenges, enabling us to deliver our high standard of properties to customers in a cost effective and timely manner.”
Established in 2013, Amethyst Homes has built its business around its customers – with a strong emphasis on providing quality, sustainable homes in the communities in which people choose to live and work. To date it has built over 590 properties in the Northeast.
Currently delivering projects in Consett, southeast Northumberland and in Newcastle, Amethyst specialises in a wide range of housing from homes well suited to first time buyers, for those looking for a larger, family property, right through to affordable bungalows.
In addition to its home building successes, since the beginning of 2022, Amethyst has trained two apprentices and invested over £3m into local jobs and training opportunities within the supply chain.
The company achieved a 5-star rating from the Home Builders Federation in 2024 for customer satisfaction and was awarded Gold Standard in 2023 and 2024 by independent research company, In-House Research, with over 97% of customers surveyed stating that they would recommend Amethyst Homes to friends and family.
