Prestigious industry awards won by Bellway site managers in Ebbsfleet

The high quality of the work delivered by three Bellway site managers who are building new homes in the Ebbsfleet area has been recognised in a prestigious national competition.

Gary Nott, Site Manager of Bellway’s Ebbsfleet Cross at Garden City development, as well as Matt Speak and Vixit Ray, who are in charge of construction at Bellway London’s Crossways Quarter and Harbour Village sites respectively, have each secured Quality Awards in the National House Building Council’s (NHBC) annual Pride in the Job competition.

This places them among the industry’s elite, as only 449 winners were chosen from a pool of 8,000 site managers across the country – and ten per cent of the winners work for Bellway.

Vixit said: “This is my first time winning. I was very excited and emotional when I received the news. We have a brilliant team here at Harbour Village and our reputation has seen many happy customers move on to the site through recommendations alone.”

It was also a first-time win for Matt, who said: “Having won awards under other people it means a lot to have won under my name. I personally took a hands-on approach to make sure everything was spot on, even down to the last tile laid. I would like to thank the efforts of my excellent team in supporting me to achieve this award.”

Meanwhile, Gary, who has won the award five times previously and a seal of excellence award said: “It gets better every time I win. I would like to thank my team who pulled together to help achieve this. I strive for better and believe in hard work and high standards no matter the role. I look forward to winning more awards and keeping up the high standards on site.”

The winning site managers are now automatically entered into the next stage of the competition – the NHBC’s Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards, which will be awarded later in the year.

Every site registered with NHBC is judged against exacting criteria each year, including attention to detail, leadership, technical expertise and health and safety.

John Haggerstone, Construction Director for Bellway Thames Gateway, said: “The Pride in the Job Quality Awards are rightly held in high regard nationally as everyone in the industry knows just how hard it is to win this accolade.

“The judging is incredibly rigorous, which means that winning the award is testament to the quality of the homes being built at Crossways Quarter, Harbour Village and Ebbsfleet Cross.

“I would like to congratulate Matt, Vixit, Gary and every member of their fabulous site teams for their achievement and wish them all the best for the next stage of the competition in the autumn.”

Bellway London is delivering 258 one, two and three-bedroom apartments at Crossways Quarter, off Crossways Boulevard in Greenhithe, and more than 500 homes across three phases at Harbour Village, off College Road in Northfleet.

Meanwhile, Bellway is building 232 new homes at Ebbsfleet Cross at Garden City on the former Croxton and Garry Quarry, off Tiltman Avenue, in Swanscombe.

Both Harbour Village and Ebbsfleet Cross at Garden City form part of the wider Ebbsfleet Garden City regeneration scheme which is set to deliver a total of 15,000 new homes, a range of community facilities and acres of green open space.
