Bargate Homes Acquires Prime Residential Site in Whiteparish, Wiltshire

Hampshire-headquartered Bargate Homes and parent company VIVID Homes have acquired a 1.7-Ha (4.2-acre) residential development site in the sought-after village of Whiteparish, south Wiltshire. The site was recently granted outline planning permission for 25 family homes.

The multi-award winning housebuilder has appointed Bagshot-based architect Cooper Baillie to undertake the detailed design for the scheme, which will incorporate a range of executive homes, seven affordable dwellings, and three further plots to be sold as First Homes. Half of the site is designated for the creation of a play area, attenuation basin and nearly two acres of public parkland. A Reserved Matters planning application will be lodged with Wiltshire Council during 2025.

Located off A27 Romsey Road, the site is on the eastern edge of Whiteparish, which was crowned the ‘Best Kept Village in Wiltshire’ in 2022. The new homes will be constructed to an Energy Performance Certificate rating of a A, in line with Bargate Homes’ comprehensive Environmental Social and Governance strategy and sustainability commitments

Bargate Homes will be proposing a variety of home designs across the site that are reflective of the architectural styles that are prevalent in Whiteparish, which is classed as one of south Wiltshire’s larger villages. The quality of design, specification, detailing and material palate will be of the high standards which are synonymous with a Bargate Homes development.

Parking for each new home will be allocated on-plot, within parking bays or garages. The considered development layout will limit the prominence of cars within the streetscape, with visitor parking discretely provided on-street and in small groups. An extensive footpath network from the Romsey Road site takes walkers northwards to West Dean, or southwards to the forest trails and attractions of the New Forest.

Whiteparish benefits from a range of local amenities including a village store, florist, The King’s Head pub, the 12th Century All Saints Church, All Saints Primary School, a village recreation ground, Post Office and GP Surgery. The secondary school serving the village is the Trafalgar School in Downton.

A bus stop is conveniently located opposite the entrance to the development site, with regular services to nearby villages, and onwards to Salisbury and Romsey. Dean train station offers regional services and connections to London and Bristol. The A36 and M27 enable efficient travel by road.
