Skillcrown wins accolade for Best Small Development at the National Housing Awards 2018

Skillcrown, South-East London’s leading property developer, alongside housing association Wandle, was honoured to take home the award for Best Small Development at the National Housing Awards 2018. The accolade was for the company’s Hillingdon Street development, which was announced at the prestigious ceremony on 6 September at London’s Grosvenor House, and presented to Skillcrown for its contribution to enhancing the local area as well as meeting both high levels of environmental and design standards.

Celebrating affordable home ownership on schemes with no more than 30 units, the Best Small Development award required prospective nominees to submit an entry which included a range of elements, including a brief summary of the scheme, imagery, and floor plans. Wandle submitted the entry earlier this year on behalf of Skillcrown, who waited eagerly for the result in the build-up to the lustrous event, presented by British comedian, Shappi Khorsandi. Looking suited and booted, Kevin Clark, Skillcrown’s Land and Business Development Director and Salik Osman, Managing Director took to the stage along with the team at Wandle to collect their trophy.

Upon winning, the judges dubbed the development as “a clear winner” for its innovative and forward-thinking housing project of 20 apartments. Located close to buzzing Vauxhall in a popular property area, the homes offer the very best in urban living, boosting London’s affordable housing stock. Adding to their reasons for awarding this project the top spot, the judges commented, “This 100% Shared Ownership scheme provided excellently planned affordable housing for the local community in central London. A well designed and very attractive development with a great variety of layouts and many innovative features with sustainability key to the design.”

“We are so proud to have won this prestigious award. Together with Wandle, we believe we have delivered a high quality scheme and it’s flattering to have it recognised by the judges,” says Kevin Clark. “Let’s see what next year brings and well done to all the finalists!”

“We are beyond delighted to have been involved in this award-winning project on behalf of Wandle,” says Salik Osman. “We’d like to congratulate all those involved in helping make this project a success and providing more opportunity for future homeowners to get on the property ladder.”
