Duchy Homes site managers honoured for outstanding dedication to health & safety

Yorkshire-based Duchy Homes has been announced once again as one of the UK’s safest house builders after two of their site managers David Mills and Dean Ellis have been honoured for their outstanding dedication to health and safety as ‘Commended Winners’ in the NHBC Health and Safety Awards.

Now in its eighth year, the NHBC Health & Safety Awards recognise site managers’ excellence in health and safety. The awards also help to drive up safety standards in house-building by showcasing and sharing best practice.

David Mills and Dean Ellis of Duchy Homes are two of 56 site managers from across the UK house building industry that have been commended in the first round of judging for their management respectively of their South Yorkshire developments: Tower Gardens in Scawthorpe, Doncaster and Watermill Gardens in Penistone. Both will now go on to compete for the Runner up and National Award to be announced at a gala event held in Birmingham on 7th July 2017. The awards are the sixth year running that Duchy Homes have been recognised in the Small Builder category for excellence in Health and Safety.

Stephen Ashworth, NHBC Health and Safety Services Manager, said:

“Congratulations to David Mills and Dean Ellis on achieving this NHBC Health and Safety Commended Award. In 2017 we saw a record number of entries and an outstanding shortlist of finalists. This underpins the importance given to health and safety on house-building sites across the UK.

“To win an award at this level clearly shows commitment to preserving an excellent health and safety record and ups the ante for other site managers. We wish both David and Dean the very best of luck in the next stage of the competition.”

Jim Cropper, Group Managing Director at Duchy Homes said:

“We are delighted to be commended again for the sixth year in a row. David and Dean are extremely committed to ensuring the highest standards of Health and Safety are met across all of our developments. To maintain a consistent winning streak demonstrates just how important Health and Safety is within Duchy Homes and we are excited for the event in July where the Commended winners will be recognised and the overall Winner and Runner-up announced.”
